Job OverviewThe position is located at Wright Patterson Air Force Base (WPAFB), Ohio and is within a commutable distance from Beavercreek, Fairborn, Dayton, and Riverside. Candidates will be evaluated at the appropriate level based on education and relevant experience. The role includes creating and utilizing high‑fidelity simulations to analyze and predict the performance of advanced radar systems, leveraging deep expertise in MATLAB to model complex radar waveforms, signal processing algorithms, and challenging electronic warfare environments.
Responsibilities- Develop, maintain, and enhance complex radar system models and simulations using MATLAB.
- Design and implement models for radar waveforms, signal processing algorithms, tracking, and resource management.
- Assess effectiveness of vendor‑developed algorithms.
- Simulate electronic attack (EA) and electronic protection (EP) techniques to assess system performance and resiliency.
- Execute simulation test cases, analyze large data sets, and document results to support design verification and performance validation.
- Perform trade studies and system performance analyses to guide architecture and algorithm development.
- Collaborate with systems, software, and test engineers to ensure models are accurate and to validate simulation results against hardware performance.
- For senior‑level engineers: mentor junior engineers and provide expert guidance on architectural decisions.
- 5 years relevant experience with a Bachelor’s in Engineering, Physics, Computer Science or related field; 3 years with a Master’s; or High School Diploma with 9 years of experience.
- Strong proficiency and demonstrated experience in MATLAB for modeling and simulation.
- Proven experience in modeling and simulating radar systems or similar complex RF systems.
- Specific experience modeling radar waveforms, signal processing algorithms (e.g., detection, tracking, STAP), and/or electronic warfare techniques.
- Strong understanding of radar fundamentals and digital signal processing.
- Experience with data analysis, visualization, and statistical performance analysis.
- Familiarity with software configuration management tools (e.g., Git).
- Responsible for implementing and reporting on modeling and simulation activities.
- Clearance:
Secret Security Clearance to start. Must be able to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI security clearance with enhanced security checks.
- 9+ years relevant experience with a Bachelor's in Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or a related field; 7+ years with a Master’s; or a PhD with 4+ years of experience.
- Expert‑level proficiency and demonstrated experience in MATLAB for the modeling and simulation of complex systems.
- Extensive experience in architecting and simulating radar systems or similar complex RF systems.
- Comprehensive experience in modeling advanced radar waveforms and signal processing algorithms (e.g., detection, tracking, STAP), and/or modern electronic warfare techniques.
- A strong, intuitive understanding of radar fundamentals and advanced digital signal processing concepts.
- Proven experience with complex data analysis, data visualization, and statistical performance analysis to draw insightful conclusions.
- Demonstrated experience in leading modeling and simulation activities, including planning, execution, and reporting.
- Clearance:
Secret Security Clearance to start. Must be able to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI security clearance with enhanced security checks.
- 15 years relevant experience with Bachelor’s in related field; 13 years with Master’s; 10 years with PhD; or High School Diploma with 19 years of experience.
- Expert‑level proficiency and demonstrated experience in MATLAB for the modeling and simulation of complex systems.
