Description
Leidos is seeking a motivated, detailed-oriented problem-solver to join our modeling and simulation team as an Aerospace Modeling and Simulation Engineer in Dayton, OH. You will play a valuable part in developing and testing models of aerospace systems, to include air-launched weapons; ballistic missile systems; avionics; hypersonic vehicles; and guidance, navigation, and controls across a wide range of projects and programs.
PrimaryResponsibilities
- Develop, integrate, and test models of aerospace systems based on provided information, research, and engineering principles.
- Document model performance against requirements.
- Document algorithm design.
- Work collaboratively with an engineering team comprised of internal and external team members.
- Interact with external stakeholders to define requirements and perform model demonstrations.
- BS degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent degree from an ABET-accredited university with 8 or more years, or a MS Degree in the same fields of study with 6 or more years. Will consider a PhD degree in the same fields of study, in lieu of additional years of experience.
- Experience with 3
DOF/6
DOF flight models - Experience in MATLAB/Simulink
- Experience with system level requirements
- Detailed understanding of the systems engineering process
- Demonstrates solid understanding and intuition of the functionality and interdependency of aerospace systems
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail to communicate clearly with internal and external stakeholders
- Organizational skills to document work and interface with team members to ensure flow of information
- Candidate must be a US Citizen and possess a Top Secret Clearance and meet the eligibility to obtain (and maintain) a TS/SCI Clearance.
- Candidate must be local to or willing to relocate to the Dayton, OH area.
- Experience in C++ or Python
- Experience integrating and testing GNC algorithms
- Experience with ballistic missiles, air-launched missiles, or hypersonic vehicles
