Job description:

nov fluid motion solutions is looking for manufacturing engineering manager at our dayton, oh facility. This position is responsible for implementing process improvements and providing manufacturing engineering support to a variety of technical areas throughout the facility. Individual must have and have attained a proficient level of subject matter expertise in machining, welding, and component assembly. Core responsibilities include technical problem solving, managing capital projects, generating efficiency improvements, cost reductions, capacity increases, and capability advancements.

Responsibilities: manage manufacturing engineering team including cnc programmers, manufacturing engineers, process engineers, and quality inspectors. Identify opportunities with manufacturing processes that result in significant improvement, including yield increases, cost reductions, capacity increases, and capability advancements. Manage various engineering projects as assigned in areas such as cell development, process improvement, operational effectiveness, equipment procurement, etc. Manage capital equipment plans and strategy.

Write equipment and procurement specifications that are used to obtain quotes and bids and that represent the technical details and acceptance criteria of all objectives. Responsibility in purchase of capital equipment and managing those vendors. Employ effective engineering analysis tools to solve problems, including but not limited to six-sigma methodologies, failure mode and effects analyses (fmea), root cause and corrective action, fishbone diagrams, etc.

Develop new processes and capabilities through the use of new technology development, innovation engineering, design for manufacturability, and product lifecycle management. Engage concepts such as rapid prototyping to leverage process development. Conduct and manage continuous improvement efforts such as visual management deployment, sustainable organizational workforce activities, continuous flow creation on the manual assembly lines, material flow and warehouse layout creation, and changeover reduction on applicable lines (smed).

Determine equipment layouts that optimize functional manufacturing capabilities. Present plans for future state mapping of building, utilities, equipment, etc. That promote efficient manufacturing methods and practices. Compile or review lists of approved vendors/suppliers based on their capabilities and abilities to meet manufacturing needs. Ensure standardization for all equipment and systems such that obsolescence can be deferred indefinitely, and such that normalization of processes can be attained.

Determine process capabilities through engineering gap analyses and create capability matrix that is used to assess manufacturability of products. Perform process audits and develop alternate process designs resulting in optimization.

Qualifications:

- required is a minimum of a bachelor's degree in mechanical or manufacturing engineering from an accredited university.

- 5 years of experience in an environment that includes process and manufacturing engineering related to machining - must have excellent project management skills.

- must have knowledge of equipment specification and purchase ranges from tooling to machining centers to capital equipment.

- should have experience using 2d and 3d cad systems.

- knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerance (gd&t).

- proficiency with microsoft office and project.

- familiar with the use of minitab or other engineering analysis tools.

- prior lean manufacturing accomplishments are desirable.

- travel might be required up to ~10%.
