NV5 is seeking an experienced and motivated Spectral Scientist to provide operational support and applied research and development activities required to acquire, process, model, analyze, database, catalog, and disseminate non‑literal electro‑optical (EO) passive sensor Geospatial Intelligence (GEOINT) to produce intelligence reports, presentations, algorithms, tools, workflows, training, CAD models, and technical papers. This role will support the National Air and Space Intelligence Agency (NASIC) and the National Space Intelligence Center (NSIC).

  • Location:

    Dayton, OH – National Air and Space Intelligence Agency (NASIC) and the National Space Intelligence Center (NSIC) at Wright‑Patterson Air Force Base (WPAFB).
  • Clearance:
    Active Top Secret Clearance with SCI eligibility.
Travel

Travel may be required as necessary.

Responsibilities
  • Utilize advanced GEOINT tools to analyze and exploit remotely sensed data to produce and disseminate GEOINT intelligence products.
  • Perform non‑literal exploitation of passive sensor data (multispectral, hyperspectral, or thermal infrared sensor data).
  • Combine exploitation results with contextual findings discovered through research and other electro‑optical (E/O) literal data analysis to bring meaningful interpretation to non‑literal results.
  • Perform quality assurance and control review for own and team‑members’ products prior to dissemination.
  • Analyze and develop processes to support the exploitation of unique, anomalous, and difficult datasets utilizing engineering principles and a physics‑based analytical approach.
  • Perform algorithm development (light scripting/automation) for complex data exploitation processes as needed (preferred).
  • Complete all mandatory security requirement/network, and sensor discipline training, as required.
Qualifications
  • STEM‑related degree required (Masters/Doctorate in Chemistry, Physics, Imagery Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science, or Data Science).
  • 6+ years demonstrated experience.
  • Active Top Secret Clearance with SCI eligibility.
  • Strong technical writing and briefing skills (experienced with MS Office – Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
Preferred Additional Skills
  • Experience with ENVI, SOCET GXP, Remote View, ArcGIS, and/or similar software tools.
  • Ability to code/script, such as in Python, MATLAB, R, and/or IDL.
  • Experience in processing and analyzing remote sensing data from active or passive sensors, especially spectral, and/or thermal (IR) data.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry preferred.
