Technical Writer
Job Description
This role supports engineering documentation and reporting initiatives within a highly regulated aerospace environment. The Technical Writer partners closely with engineering teams to create, maintain, and improve critical technical documentation that supports product development, testing, and production processes. The position focuses on ensuring that all documentation is accurate, clear, consistent, and aligned with established standards while enabling effective collaboration across global locations.
Responsibilities
+ Create, review, and maintain engineering reports, test reports, and test requests that support product development, testing, and production activities.
+ Ensure that all documentation meets high standards of accuracy, clarity, formatting, and consistency in line with internal guidelines and industry expectations.
+ Develop and maintain detailed work instructions for assembly, disassembly, test fixtures, and production processes to support manufacturing and engineering teams.
+ Support new product development and production environments across global locations by providing timely and precise documentation.
+ Develop and update technical documentation to support bids and proposals, ensuring content is complete, compliant, and clearly structured.
+ Improve engineering templates, documentation standards, and reporting formats to enhance efficiency and consistency across the organization.
+ Provide documentation support to offshore teams and collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, and other stakeholders.
+ Utilize internal engineering systems and collaboration tools to manage, track, and update documentation throughout its lifecycle.
+ Contribute to continuous improvement of documentation processes by identifying gaps, proposing enhancements, and implementing best practices.
Essential Skills
+ Proven experience as a Technical Writer in an engineering or manufacturing environment.
+ Strong technical writing skills with the ability to create clear, concise, and structured documentation for engineering and production audiences.
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, for creating and formatting technical documents and reports.
+ Demonstrated ability to ensure accuracy, clarity, and consistency across multiple types of technical documentation.
+ Strong attention to detail and a process-driven mindset to maintain high documentation standards.
+ Ability to work independently while managing multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
+ Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to diverse stakeholders.
+ Experience working within standard work frameworks and manufacturing documentation practices.

+ Experience in aerospace or mechanical engineering environments.
+ Familiarity with engineering documentation and test reporting processes and requirements.
+ Experience working with global or offshore teams and collaborating across time zones.
+ Proficiency in using Microsoft Teams for communication and collaboration.
+ Experience working with internal engineering systems for document management and reporting.
+ Demonstrated adaptability and comfort working in a fast-paced, highly regulated environment.
+ Strong collaborative skills and the ability to partner effectively with engineering, manufacturing, and cross-functional teams.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Dayton, OH.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $47.50/hr.
Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
