About iCOMAT
Join iCOMAT – Revolutionising the Future of Lightweight Manufacturing! iCOMAT is an advanced manufacturing company with game‑changing technology that delivers the lightest structures possible for aerospace and automotive, at a scale, rate and cost efficiency that far exceeds existing composite production processes. We have ensured iCOMAT is made up of people with the drive and imagination to grow a business that will revolutionise the use of composite materials to enable the next generation of lightweight cars, planes and spacecraft.
We build and operate automated factories for composite materials, delivering components to Tier 1 and OEMs. The business has three main divisions that focus on the development of automated production machines, software design and production tools, and the operation of the factory. With two facilities in the UK, one facility in Dayton (Ohio‑US) and plans for a European R&D and manufacturing site, we are scaling rapidly to meet growing demand.
We are looking for talented individuals to help us continue driving this transformation. If you’re ready to be part of a pioneering team that’s reshaping industries and pushing the boundaries of technology, we want to hear from you!
- Lead the physical build‑out of the Dayton facility, including clean room construction, extraction systems, dust control infrastructure, and production floor layout.
- Coordinate and manage external contractors, vendors, and suppliers through the setup phase, ensuring timely delivery, quality standards, and cost discipline.
- Spec and commission equipment appropriate for an aerospace composites environment.
- Own and enforce US‑specific HSE requirements across the site, including OSHA standards, NFPA regulations, EPA environmental obligations, and state‑level codes.
- Develop and maintain site safety procedures, emergency response plans, and environmental management protocols (chemical handling, waste disposal, spill prevention).
- Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory inspections and ensure the facility is audit‑ready at all times.
- Manage the day‑to‑day running of the facility: building systems (HVAC, electrical, gas, water), maintenance schedules, security, and general services.
- Act as the on‑site point of contact for suppliers, vendors, landlord, and facility support providers.
- Track and manage facility‑related budgets within parameters set by UK headquarters.
- Source, evaluate, and manage local vendors and contractors for construction, maintenance, and ongoing facility services.
- Negotiate contracts and ensure competitive pricing while maintaining quality and compliance standards.
- Maintain a disciplined approach to vendor follow‑up, ensuring timelines and commitments are met.
- 5+ years of facilities management experience within composites, aerospace, or advanced manufacturing environments.
- Demonstrated experience setting up or commissioning mid‑size technical workshops, production sites, or manufacturing facilities.
- Strong working knowledge of US health, safety, and environmental regulations (OSHA, NFPA, EPA) as they apply to manufacturing facilities.
- Hands‑on understanding of aerospace‑grade facility requirements: clean rooms, carbon fibre dust control, extraction systems, fire suppression, and chemical handling.
- Proven ability to manage multiple contractors, vendors, and suppliers simultaneously with cost and schedule discipline.
- Comfortable operating as the most senior operations presence on site, making decisions and escalating appropriately.
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset; you will work closely with UK‑based leadership and a small but growing US team.
- Experience with aerospace customer audits and facility accreditation processes (AS9100, Nadcap, or equivalent).
- Background in equipment commissioning for composites manufacturing (autoclaves, CNC, lay‑up systems).
- Familiarity with the Dayton/Ohio aerospace and defence ecosystem.
- Experience working in a scale‑up or high‑growth…
