Systems Engineer, Test Engineer
Job Description
Within the Warfare Systems (WS) portion of HII’s Mission Technologies division, we are seeking Junior, Mid‑Level, and Senior Radar Systems Engineers to collaborate on advanced radar system development. The role spans the complete system lifecycle—from concept and design through testing and operation—within a fast‑paced, agile environment. Engineers will translate customer needs into robust hardware and software specifications and support system integration and verification along with senior team members, while mentoring junior colleagues and interfacing with cross‑functional stakeholders.
Location:
Wright Patterson Air Force Base (WPAFB), Ohio (commutable to Beavercreek, Fairborn, Dayton, Riverside).
- Assist in technical planning, system design, system integration, and verification & validation activities.
- Perform detailed analyses on system concepts, designs, fabrication, and testing, considering technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
- Convert product requirements into effective hardware and software specifications.
- Conduct functional analysis, timeline analysis, trade studies, and interface definition to support system development.
- Collaborate with internal engineers and external partner vendors to develop solutions, identify risks, and ensure project success.
- Lead complex radar engineering efforts at the senior level, driving system architecture decisions and overseeing integration and test activities.
- 2 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor’s degree in a related field; or Master’s degree with 0 years; or High School Diploma with 4 years of experience.
- Academic or internship experience with Radar principles or signal analysis.
- Hands‑on experience with test, integration, and verification of hardware and software in a laboratory environment.
- Ability to assist in creating technical documentation and reports.
- Current Secret Security Clearance (must be able to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance with enhanced checks).
- Familiarity with systems engineering concepts and interest in RF chain analysis and system performance analysis.
- Experience with laboratory test equipment such as multimeters, spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, network analyzers, and power meters.
- Basic understanding of radar transmit strategies, radar signal‑processing techniques, system integration, and test procedures.
- Proficiency with analysis tools/programs (e.g., MATLAB).
Office or industrial environment. Capable of climbing ladders, tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperatures, and lifting and moving materials.
