Cahaba Federal Solutions is a rapidly growing small business specializing in intelligence, prototyping and integration, systems engineering, and technology development. Recognized as one of Huntsville’s Best Places to Work for the past 3 years, as a Best Place for Working Parents for the past 3 years, and as the winner of the Huntsville/Madison County Emerging Business of the Year for 2025, Cahaba is a trusted partner in advancing national security through innovative solutions to critical challenges.
We are committed to supporting our nation's most vital missions with dedication and expertise. Joining the Cahaba team means access to meaningful career growth, opportunities for personal development, and the chance to tackle engaging and impactful work.
In the Modeling and Simulation (M&S) Engineer role, each team member plays a direct and essential role in mission success. You will apply your expertise in modeling and simulation across aerospace system, subsystem, and component-level applications.
Cahaba’s full‑time employees are rewarded with competitive salaries and an outstanding comprehensive benefits package. These benefits include Blue Cross Blue Shield medical coverage, Guardian vision and dental insurance, company‑funded life, short‑term and long‑term disability, tuition reimbursement, wellness benefits, generous paid time off, and robust retirement plan solutions.
Key Responsibilities- Development of models, algorithms and associated simulation software for the above system types and will perform trade‑space analysis to assess and verify system characteristics and capabilities.
- Document all software and hardware characteristics and changes to existing and new simulation environments; test architecture design and test planning; experimental design and test execution; data collection and analysis; and report generation.
- Integrate models into complex simulation architectures, including engagement‑level simulations, theater‑level simulations, and hardware‑in‑the‑loop architectures.
- 3+ years of experience in the use of modeling and simulation software development frameworks.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Physics.
- Experience with MATLAB/Simulink.
- Basic understanding of aerospace system behavior and dynamics, and how to model them, such as detailed sub‑system models and flight dynamics models.
- Demonstrated ability to solve complex hardware and software integration challenges.
- Must be a motivated self‑starter who is able to work both independently and in a collaborative team environment, often with minimal guidance and within rigid timelines.
- Ability to interact with data suppliers, work well with coworkers and interface with customers, all at disparate locations.
- Must have outstanding skills in communicating complex technical issues and in providing comprehensive written, oral and/or digital products (including document organization and technical writing).
- Must have good analytic skills and the ability to apply these skills in a multi‑tasking environment where more than one project may require his/her participation at a given time (typically one primary project and one or two ancillary projects).
- Familiarity with contractor and government roles in applying intelligence analysis to aerospace system development and acquisition.
- Must be located in or willing to relocate to the Dayton, Ohio area.
- Professional training in modeling and simulation as related to space, missile, or aircraft system performance/dynamics.
- Master’s degree in Engineering or Physics.
- At least one additional programming/software development language (C, C++, Python).
- Familiarity with TMAP, AFSIM, ITASE, NGTS, or JSE.
- The candidate should possess familiarity with the Department of Defense (DoD) and the United States Intelligence Community (IC).
- Specific experience developing mathematical models of aerospace vehicle dynamics, guidance navigation, and control components and algorithms.
- A basic understanding of system component integration and the ability to model entire systems or individual components, such as sensors, GNC,…
