About the role
A growing manufacturer in the power distribution and critical infrastructure space is looking for several Design Engineers to join its product development team. This is a hands-on product design role covering both new product development (NPD) and new product introduction (NPI) - taking power distribution products and systems from concept through design, prototyping, and into production. You'd work closely with manufacturing to ensure designs build cleanly and transition smoothly from engineering to the shop floor.
The company is hiring across both electrical and mechanical design, so the emphasis shifts depending on your background - but both sit within the same product-development function.
What you d be doing- Designing power distribution products and systems from concept through to production release.
- Owning new product development (NPD) and supporting new product introduction (NPI) as designs move into manufacturing.
- Producing detailed designs, models, and drawings, and maintaining associated documentation and BOMs.
- Partnering cross-functionally with manufacturing, engineering, and quality to ensure manufacturability and a smooth handoff into production.
- Supporting prototyping, design reviews, and continuous improvement of products and processes.
- Product design experience in power distribution or related equipment — switch gear, ATS, PDU, busway, RPP, or similar critical-power products (strongly preferred).
- Comfort across the full design cycle, from concept through production.
- Proficiency in CAD (e.g. Solid Works / AutoCAD / Inventor, depending on electrical vs. mechanical focus).
- Familiarity with relevant standards (e.g. UL, ANSI/IEEE, NEMA) is a plus.
- A collaborative approach and the ability to work closely with manufacturing
