What You'll Be Doing
As a Structural Technician IV, you'll use your experience to assemble, modify, repair and inspect structural components and assemblies supporting C-17 aircraft. Responsibilities may include:
- Perform structural assembly and minor part-fitting operations including filing, sawing, deburring, trimming, framing, riveting, drilling and reaming
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, schematics, technical manuals and aerospace publications
- Translate engineering drawings into completed structural assemblies
- Perform basic layout, precision drilling and countersinking
- Use calibrated precision tools to ensure accurate measurements and quality
- Align aircraft parts and assemblies using jigs, templates and fixtures
- Measure and verify dimensions using micrometers, calipers and other precision measuring equipment
- Install aerospace fasteners including rivets and Hi-Loks
- Perform structural modifications and incorporate engineering changes into complete and incomplete assemblies
- Perform aircraft structural repair and refinishing activities, including airframe corrosion removal when applicable
- Maintain required edge distance, pitch and other structural specifications
- Monitor workmanship and quality throughout assembly and repair operations
- Perform various aircraft maintenance duties as required
- Communicate effectively with team members, team leads, Quality Control and Engineering
- Maintain accurate job status and production information within company systems
- Follow established safety, quality and technical procedures
What We're Looking For
Required:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Typically 10+ years of relevant aerospace structures experience
- Strong aircraft structural assembly and repair background
- Ability to interpret moderately complex technical schematics, diagrams, blueprints, manuals and publications
- Advanced experience with structural assembly and minor part-fitting techniques
- Experience with airframe corrosion removal, repair and refinishing, as applicable
- Experience installing aerospace fasteners, including rivets and Hi-Loks
- Ability to complete installations while maintaining proper edge distance and fastener pitch
- Must have and maintain personal tools in good working order
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
Preferred:
- C-17 experience strongly preferred
- Aerospace and Defense industry experience
- U.S. Department of Defense, NASA or U.S. Military experience
- Ability and willingness to travel
