Job Description
A local customer is seeking a Research Engineer to help drive advanced navigation research efforts. This individual will serve as a technical leader by working with task leads, software developers, mechanical engineers, and integration teams to evaluate new navigation concepts and determine how they can be implemented and tested. Responsibilities will include researching emerging navigation techniques, evaluating competitor and industry approaches, guiding software implementation efforts, analyzing sensor data, developing and assessing navigation algorithms, and supporting flight test activities.
This person will help bridge theory and practical implementation by collaborating with engineering teams to develop solutions in Python, C++, and related technologies before transitioning concepts into flight test environments. The role is highly integrated with the broader R&D organization and requires both technical leadership and willingness to remain hands‑on with development and analysis efforts.

- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical discipline
- 6+ years of professional experience in navigation, sensor fusion, autonomy, aerospace, or related research areas
- -Experience with developing code in Python, C++, or Java
- -Emphasis on research/ R&D for a related area
- Experience with navigation filter development, tuning, performance assessment, or sensor fusion engine development
- Ability to obtain a Secret Clearance
- PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
- Active Top Secret Clearance with TS/SCI eligibility
- Experience with Alternative PNT (Alt-PNT) technologies such as:
- Vision-Based Navigation
- Magnetic Anomaly Navigation
- Flight test experience
- Experience supporting academic research institutions
- Experience mentoring junior engineers or students
- Experience authoring technical papers, journals, or conference presentations
