Position Summary

The Sinclair Production Specialist position exists to ensure the smooth operation of Blair Hall Theatre productions, events, and facilities. This position is responsible for ensuring that all production elements and event preparations are completed to high-quality standards and within established deadlines. The Sinclair Production Specialist supervises and directs a student work crew in the theatre and scene shop to support the successful execution of all Blair Hall Theatre productions and events.

The hourly pay rate for this position is $20.43 and has a maximum of 28 hours per week. This position follows a 9-month work schedule, with employment during the spring and fall seasons only.

Principal Accountabilities
  • Construct, install, and maintain scenic elements for theatre productions and events, ensuring all work is completed safely, to quality standards, and by established deadlines
  • Supervise, train, and direct student employees and lab students in the scene shop and theatre, assigning work, monitoring progress, and promoting safe work practices
  • Maintain the theatre and scene shop by organizing, inspecting, repairing, and replenishing equipment, tools, and supplies to ensure operational readiness
  • Coordinate with faculty, staff, students, and external users to plan, prepare, and support rehearsals, productions, and special events, serving as the primary Sinclair representative during event operations
  • Collaborate with the Blair Hall Theatre Manager, directors, department chairs, and other theatre users to prioritize production workflows, schedule technical support, and oversee student crews to ensure work is completed accurately and on schedule
  • Verify that production and event preparations meet established quality and safety standards before final approval by the Blair Hall Theatre Manager and the event sponsor or department
  • Assist the Blair Hall Theatre Manager in monitoring and administering event-related budgets, authorize approved expenditures within established guidelines, and make operational decisions during rehearsals and live events to ensure their safe and successful execution
Requirements
  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in theatre, theatre technology, or related field required
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Theatre Production to include: scene shop equipment and standard theatre equipment (sound/lighting/stage rigging) required
  • Knowledge and understanding of theatre facilities, equipment, and standard practices required
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office:
    Word, Excel, Outlook required
  • Strong initiative, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and make sound decisions
  • Demonstrated organizational skills with the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and quality
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills, with a positive, collaborative approach and a strong commitment to supporting students, faculty, staff, and community users
