Job Description

Guided by the agency’s mission, we are looking for a dedicated security‑minded professional to serve as a Parole Officer in Montgomery County.

Job Duties
  • Under general supervision, oversee offenders and maintain their case plans.
  • Interview, visit, and observe offenders at residences, work sites, or other community locations.
  • Utilize evidence‑based supervision practices and Ohio Risk Assessment System to facilitate behavioral change.
  • Conduct risk assessments, develop and review case plans, and gauge progress toward goals.
  • Provide individual and group advice, listening, speaking, and writing to offenders.
  • Operate electronic monitoring equipment and conduct visual and auditory surveillance.
  • Perform drug testing and maintain chain of evidence; conduct DNA testing as prescribed by statute.
  • Find employment and vocational opportunities for offenders by referring to community service agencies.
  • Maintain contact with offender families, friends, employers, and others.
  • Manage caseloads, including special training for supervising substance abusers, drug offenders, sex offenders, and special needs offenders.
  • Conduct placement, arrest, and violation investigations and produce reports for judges, parole administrators, or parole board members.
  • Update and use records through Field Officer Tools (FOT).
  • Travel to offender homes, places of employment, jails, and courts using personal or state vehicle.
  • Prepare information and initiate packets for parole board hearings.
  • Screen inmates to determine eligibility for transfer into transitional control programs.
  • Respond in writing to inmate inquiries and conduct clemency investigations.
  • Facilitate special hearings, such as clemency or full board, when needed.
  • Deliver arrest, hold, and release orders; secure and deliver search warrants and subpoenas.
  • Pursue declared violators‑at‑large, arrest violators, and conduct search and seizure of contraband.
  • Develop and present cases at revocation hearings; collect evidence and organize reports.
  • Testify as required.
  • Provide work direction and train staff, including orientation, on‑the‑job training, and in‑service training.
  • Oversee outpost office staff and conduct background investigations on prospective employees.
  • Develop working relations with community agencies to secure resources for client benefit.
  • Write speeches and presentations for authorized speaking engagements; participate in community councils and committees.
  • Coordinate with halfway houses and prevention programs; act as liaison with state hospitals.
  • Present pre‑release programs at penal institutions.
  • Attend staff meetings, conferences, and training sessions.
  • Maintain professional conduct in accordance with Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction Standards of Employee Conduct.
