Mission
Serve as a Military Service Coordinator, facilitating access to Veterans Affairs benefits and resources for service members, their families, and beneficiaries.
Responsibilities- Schedule and conduct appointments with service members within prescribed time limits to provide an overview of benefits and resources for obtaining VA contact information.
- Explain benefit programs and entitlement criteria; gather relevant evidence and input data necessary to develop claims, including ordering and scheduling VA examinations.
- Conduct discharge briefings to large groups or servicemen and women at separation points.
- Counsel Veterans, their dependents, and beneficiaries regarding all benefits available through the Department of Veterans Affairs via personal interview, telephone interview, and correspondence.
- Provide additional information to disabled Veterans about the specially designated employment assistance for service members being separated for medical reasons.

Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Remote Work: This is not a virtual position.
Conditions of Employment- You must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
- Probationary period may be required.
- Subject to background/security investigation.
- Selected applicants will be required to complete an online onboarding process.
Time-In-Grade Requirement (GS‑11): Applicants who are current federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time‑in‑grade requirements. Serve 52 weeks at GS‑09.
Specialized
Experience:
One year of experience equivalent to at least GS‑09 in adjudicating veterans' claims, including development, examination, investigation, adjudication, and authorization of claims for disability compensation, pension, death benefits, insurance, etc. Experience in law, federal/state agencies, insurance, or related fields qualifies.
Education (substituting for experience): Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, three full years of progressively higher‑level graduate education leading to such a degree, or an LL.M. if related.
Combining
Education & Experience:
You may combine education and specialized experience. Identify the percentage of qualifying education relative to the required education, the percentage of specialized experience relative to the required experience, and combine the two to reach at least 100%.
