Stepdown Registered Nurse | Dayton, Ohio

Deliver specialized care as a Stepdown Registered Nurse (RN) focusing on neurology and complex patient conditions in a dynamic healthcare environment. This contract position requires expertise in Neuro Stepdown nursing, including proficiency in NIHSS and dysrhythmia assessment, with a dedication to delivering evidence-based, patient-centered care.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform comprehensive patient assessments, develop, implement, and evaluate individualized plans of care.
• Administer medications safely and manage complex patient needs, including multi-system organ failure and multisystem trauma.
• Coordinate care with interdisciplinary teams and serve as the patient advocate during recovery processes.
• Utilize advanced clinical judgment to respond effectively to rapidly changing patient conditions.
• Facilitate patient and family education and support, applying cultural diversity and inclusion principles.
• Adhere to nursing professional practice standards and maintain accreditation requirements including BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications.

Qualifications and

Experience:

• Current RN license valid in state or covered by compact.
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS.
• Preferred:
  Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
• Minimum one year of RN experience; acute care hospital experience highly valued.
• Neuro Stepdown or related acute neurological care exposure preferred.
• Familiarity with relevant electronic health records systems (EPIC preferred).

Schedule:

• 12-hour day shifts.
• Every other weekend, every other holiday schedule.

Unit and Patient Focus:

• 30-bed unit specializing in neuro, neurosurgical, cardiac, renal, and medical/surgical care.
• Management of patients with stable arrhythmias, post-cardiac procedures without intervention, and complex chronic conditions.
