Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role for a Substance Abuse Counselor, based in Dayton, OH. The Substance Abuse Counselor will provide professional counseling and guidance to individuals dealing with substance abuse issues. Responsibilities include conducting assessments, developing individualized treatment plans, implementing therapeutic interventions, facilitating group and individual counseling sessions, and maintaining accurate documentation. The counselor will also collaborate with other professionals, provide education on addiction and recovery, and connect clients with available resources.

Qualifications
  • Strong counseling and therapeutic intervention skills, with experience addressing substance abuse issues
  • Proficiency in conducting client assessments and creating individualized treatment plans
  • Strong communication and active listening skills to facilitate effective group and individual counseling
  • Organizational and documentation skills to maintain accurate client records and reports
  • Knowledge of addiction recovery principles, resources, and support services
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other professionals and stakeholders
  • Bachelor's degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field (Master's preferred)
  • Relevant licensure or certification in counseling or substance abuse treatment is required
  • Experience working in a higher education or college setting is a plus
