The Need:

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate behavioural health counselor / team leader to join our Mobile Crisis team Kettering. The ideal candidate will work in a collaborative team environment, providing therapeutic services to individuals struggling with behavioural health challenges. As a behavioural health counselor, you will have the opportunity to help clients overcome barriers, provide solution-focused counselling, and make a meaningful impact by saving lives.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct assessments and develop individualized treatment plans for clients with behavioural health concerns, utilizing evidence-based practices and a solution-focused approach.
  • Provide individual and group counselling to clients, utilizing a strengths-based and person-centered approach to support their mental health and well-being.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of mental health professionals, including psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and case managers, to provide comprehensive care to clients.
  • Foster a team environment by actively participating in team meetings, case consultations, and clinical supervision sessions, and collaborating with colleagues to provide the best possible care to clients.
  • Promote a growth-oriented culture by engaging in ongoing professional development, staying current with the latest research and best practices in mental health counselling, and seeking opportunities for advancement within the organisation.
  • Break down barriers to access mental health services by providing culturally competent and inclusive care to clients from diverse backgrounds, and advocating for their needs within the organisation and the community.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical documentation, including progress notes, treatment plans, and other required documentation, in accordance with professional standards and agency policies.
  • Provide crisis intervention and support to clients experiencing mental health crises or emergencies, and coordinate with appropriate resources and services to ensure their safety and well-being.

Qualifications:

  • A degree in counselling, social work, or chemical dependency.
  • State licensure or certification as a Mental Health Counsellor or equivalent (e.g., LPC, LPCC, LSW, LISW, LCDC II/III, LICDC) in accordance with local regulations.
  • Previous supervisory or leadership experience with a strong clinical background
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment, collaborating with colleagues from diverse professional backgrounds to provide client-centered care.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to establish rapport and build therapeutic relationships with clients from diverse backgrounds.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with the latest research and best practices in mental health counselling.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative, while also seeking supervision and consultation when needed.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage a caseload, maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities, while maintaining a high level of professionalism and ethical conduct.
