Position: Chair of the Department of Physician Assistant (PA) Studies

The Position
  • The Chair of the Department of Physician Assistant (PA) Studies will provide academic and operational leadership for Kettering College’s PA program, supporting faculty, students, curriculum development, program assessment, and continued alignment with institutional goals and community needs. The program supports approximately 60 graduates annually and continues to uphold a 10-year ARC-PA accreditation, reaffirmed through its successful 2024 renewal.
  • This leader will oversee approximately 12 faculty members while fostering a collaborative, supportive environment focused on faculty engagement, professional development, student success, and continuous improvement. The Chair will provide clear direction and build faculty buy-in while supporting a team with a mix of Assistant and Associate Professors.
  • Lead ongoing program assessment and accreditation activities, ensuring continued compliance with ARC-PA standards and maintaining the program’s strong accreditation standing. The Chair will monitor program outcomes, use data to guide decision-making, and facilitate continuous improvement across curriculum, student performance, and program effectiveness.
  • The Chair will guide the ongoing review and refinement of the PA curriculum, ensuring coursework remains current, evidence-based, and aligned with the evolving needs of the profession and healthcare community. This leader will work collaboratively with faculty to streamline and strengthen the student learning experience.
  • Partner with college and health system leadership to advance the PA program’s role within Kettering Health and the broader community. The Chair will contribute to strategic planning, participate in institutional committees, and help support organizational growth as Kettering College works toward expanding from approximately 800 to 1,000 students.
  • The ideal candidate will bring strong PA education and assessment experience, particularly with ARC-PA accreditation, along with the ability to inspire and develop faculty. The organization is open to an experienced academic leader or an Assistant/Senior-level professor ready to take the next step into program leadership.
Requirements
  • Master’s degree is required.
  • Current Physician Assistant licensure in Ohio (or eligibility for Ohio licensure) is required.
  • Current NCCPA certification is required.
  • BLS and ACLS certifications are strongly preferred.
  • A minimum of four years of teaching experience is required.
  • A minimum of three years of clinical experience is required.
