The Behavioral Health Assessment Team (BHAT) provides behavioral health intervention, evaluation, and support services for patients throughout Kettering Health, facilitating care both in the emergency department and on medical floors. This team determines each patient’s most appropriate level of care, facilitates linkage and referrals, and coordinates the movement/transfer of psychiatric behavioral health patients to psychiatric facilities when medically stable. The BHAT team manages all psychiatric consultation services, performs substance abuse assessment, and links patients to treatment, providing tele‑assessment services system‑wide.

The role is part of a multidisciplinary team including physicians, nursing, care coordinators, social workers, families, and community partners.

• Minimum Education:
  
  Master's degree in social work or counseling from an accredited university.
• Required Licenses:
  Ohio, United States LSW, LISW, LPC, LPCC, MFT.
• Minimum
  
  Work Experience:
  
  Two years of behavioral health assessment, community‑based crisis, or hospital‑based (emergency room) behavioral health evaluation preferred.
• Knowledge of diagnostic criteria for psychiatric illnesses and substance abuse disorders, and knowledge of community resources.
• Experience with electronic medical record preferred.
