Overview

Join the University of Dayton as a Human Resources Data Support Specialist! The University of Dayton, a top‑tier Catholic research university, is seeking a talented and detail‑oriented Data Support Specialist to join our dynamic Human Resources department.

Responsibilities

The Data Support Specialist in the Office of Human Resources coordinates, prepares, verifies, enters, and audits data entry into computerized information systems. Ensures data integrity using defined data entry standards and meets regularly with the Manager of the Data Support Team to ensure data and policy compliance. This position processes electronic and paper/TDX personnel actions for all University employee classifications and transaction types;

provides quality customer service by processing data in a timely and accurate manner; monitors and provides first‑level support for HRIS TDX general service tickets, escalating to Data Team members or other core units in Human Resources as needed; listens to and helps resolve customer concerns utilizing approved handbooks and other available resources; directs complex issues to the specific unit within HR;

provides instruction and advice to personnel action originators and approvers; researches pay and/or data issues; maintains confidentiality of employee information; and communicates with a diverse constituency at all levels of the University.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent with minimum two years of successful face‑to‑face customer service experience.
  • Knowledge of human resources and payroll practices, entering new hires into the HRIS system, and processing changes to employee records in the system.
  • Minimum of one year of experience providing administrative support in an office environment, including the ability to answer basic human resources questions; maintaining personnel files and other human resources records; and data entry.
  • Critical thinking and problem solving ability.
  • Experience working well under pressure and meeting deadlines.
  • Minimum of one year of experience using an Enterprise Resource Planning System (ERP) or HRIS/Payroll system.
  • Basic proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite of products, electronic email and calendars, and cloud‑based office software.
  • The ability to sit in front of a computer for long periods, use a telephone and other office machinery.
  • Strong written and oral communication, grammar, punctuation and spelling skills.
  • Experience maintaining confidentiality, high ethical standards and exhibiting good judgment of work related matters.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Three or more years of successful face‑to‑face customer service experience.
  • Three or more years of experience providing administrative support in a human resources department, or in higher education.
  • Strong attention to detail and experience multi‑tasking.
  • Ability to be a strong team player.
  • Excellent organizational skills and proven verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work with people from various backgrounds and at all levels in the organization.
  • Three or more years of Banner/other HRIS/ERP experience.
  • Knowledge of and sensitivity to a Catholic Marianist work environment.
  • Experience using an Applicant Tracking System, such as Page Up.
  • Proven experience handling difficult interactions with tact and composure.
