Systems Administrator

Overview

Job #: 3033017. Everforth ECS is seeking a skilled System Administrator to join a team providing maintenance, operation, and sustainment support for Air Force Financial Systems Operations (AFFSO) at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base (WPAFB), OH. This is a hybrid position supporting both remote and on-site work  role involves maintaining a hybrid infrastructure environment spanning on-premises and AWS cloud services, with focus on reliability, performance, and security of applications including AWS Elastic Beanstalk, RDS, S3, and Apache Tomcat.

• Ensure long-term requirements of systems operations and administration are included in overall information systems planning.
• Install, maintain, configure, and ensure the integrity of computer software.
• Manage, implement, and maintain cloud-based AWS environments including EC2, S3, RDS, and Beanstalk deployments.
• Implement operating system enhancements to improve reliability and performance.
• Apply security controls as directed by policy and security specialists related to information assurance procedures and systems.
• Prepare activity and progress reports related to the information systems audit function.
• Provide second-tier support to end-users for PC, server, and hardware.
• Handle problems that the first tier of help desk support is unable to resolve.
• Interact with network services, software systems engineering, and/or applications development to restore service or identify and correct core problems.
• Simulate or recreate user problems to resolve operating difficulties.
• Recommend system modifications to reduce user problems.
• Maintain currency and the highest level of technical skill in the field of expertise.
• Install, support, and maintain computer systems.
• Perform contingency planning, assist with testing, diagnose software and hardware failures to resolution, and implement and ensure security preventive measures are functioning.
• Monitor and enhance system performance, troubleshoot performance issues and outages in diverse enterprise environments.
• Implement scheduled jobs and related tasks.

• U.S. Citizenship
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Information Systems
• Security+ Certification or higher
• 3 to 5+ years of experience in the field
• Experience managing Red Hat Linux servers in on-prem and AWS environments
• Experience supporting database, web server, and file server platforms with planning, sizing, security, backup and recovery, maintenance, and migration
• Experience supporting various enterprise tools in a team environment
• Experience identifying problems, building solutions, and standardizing both virtual and physical environments
• Proven ability to design and develop technical reports and integrate them with report tools
• Extensive understanding of system log monitoring, backups, bash scripting, privileged access management and maintenance, OS security, quarterly OS patching, hardware planning/architecture, and problem resolution within government networks

• Hardware/Software installation, setup, troubleshooting, and decommission
• Experience with ports/protocols and system-to-system file transmission
• Experience deploying WAR files across multiple servers

• AWS cloud services and migration efforts for a PaaS architecture
• Knowledge of Oracle RDS
• Experience deploying Beanstalk configurations in AWS
• Experience creating, deploying, and implementing S3 architectures
• Experience with logging initiatives using Cloud Watch and Cloud Trail in AWS
• Experience using Apache Tomcat Web Server

• Experience with Docker containerization
• Experience creating and deploying CI/CD pipelines
