Test Engineer III
The Test Engineer III is responsible for leading a small team of test engineers to manage the requirements and testing process of assigned application development.
Essential Functions:
- Create and/or use associated test data to execute tests manually involving front-end user interfaces, back-end tools to analyze data and results, or both
- Execute regression, functional, integration, and data tests against user-acceptance test criteria and expected results for documented test cases to verify and validate the application/system/integration under test functions as defined
- Document defect issues, communicate/collaborate with agile team for defect resolution, and retest to validate fix was implemented
- Collaborate with Agile Team members to understand the application/system/interface under test, associated user acceptance criteria, and test cases/scenarios
- Update test cases as needed
- Responsible for the company's automated test management and the integration or connection to other tools in the development lifecycle
- Develop and lead the automation strategy/effort and generate scripts to perform automated testing cycles using HP products
- Utilize existing tools and techniques to build/script new tools for performing testing/validation function
- Participate in troubleshooting and triaging of issues with different teams specific to automation scripts to drive towards root cause identification and resolution
- Sets objectives for own job with the understanding of how output would affect and impact other job areas related to own job. Contributes and provides input to the development of operational area goals within the context of own job area. Work consists of tasks that are typically not routine, works independently and applies discretion within established operational boundaries and procedures. Work direction is only provided for new areas of work or unique assignments.
- Problems and issues faced are vague, and require reasoning and analysis to address problems and issues. Updates and/or modifies work methods based on past experiences, and identifies solutions to problems by recognizing similarities through data trends. Has higher autonomy to arrive at solutions to non-routine problems within established operational boundaries and procedures. Uses personal experiences, makes reasonable judgment calls, and may call on other resources where necessary to identify solutions.
