JOB TITLE: Global Materials Manager
DEPARTMENT: Supply Chain
REPORTING TO: Director of Supply Chain or SVP Supply Chain
LOCATION: Dayton, OH (Supporting Ohio, Texas, and Mexico Operations)
PRIMARY FUNCTION OF POSITION:
The Global Materials Manager is responsible for leading material planning, procurement coordination, inventory optimization, and supply continuity across Libra Industries' operations in Ohio, Texas, and Mexico. This role serves as the central point of coordination for global MRP execution, material availability, shortage management, supplier escalations, and purchasing team leadership.
The Global Materials Manager partners closely with Operations, Program Management, Engineering, Quality, and Commercial teams to ensure uninterrupted material flow, minimize supply chain risk, and support customer delivery commitments. This position will initially be structured as a 90-day contract assignment with the opportunity to transition into a permanent Purchasing Manager role based on performance and business need.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Global MRP & Materials Planning
• Own and drive the Material Requirements Planning (MRP) process across all Libra locations.
• Ensure planning parameters, demand signals, lead times, and inventory data are maintained accurately within ERP/MRP systems.
• Monitor material requirements and replenishment activities to support production schedules and customer commitments.
• Partner with Planning, Operations, and Program Management teams to proactively identify and resolve material risks.
Material Availability & Shortage Management
• Lead recurring shortage review meetings across all facilities.
• Identify supply risks, component constraints, and potential production impacts.
• Develop and execute mitigation plans to minimize customer and operational disruptions.
• Provide proactive communication regarding material risks, shortages, and recovery plans.
Escalation Management
• Serve as the primary escalation point for material availability issues, supplier failures, planning conflicts, and critical shortages.
• Coordinate cross-functional resolution activities involving Purchasing, Operations, Engineering, Quality, and Program Management.
• Drive timely decision-making to minimize production interruptions and customer impacts.
Purchasing Team Leadership
• Directly lead and develop purchasing team members.
• Establish priorities, workloads, and accountability measures for purchasing activities.
• Support employee development, performance management, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Ensure purchasing activities align with organizational goals and supplier performance expectations.
Supplier Performance & Procurement Support
• Support strategic supplier relationships and escalation management.
• Monitor supplier performance related to quality, delivery, responsiveness, and service.
• Collaborate with suppliers to improve delivery performance and reduce supply chain risk.
• Support sourcing initiatives, supplier rationalization efforts, and long-term supplier strategies.
Inventory Optimization
• Develop and execute inventory management strategies to achieve targeted inventory turns.
• Balance inventory investment with customer service and production requirements.
• Monitor excess, obsolete, and slow-moving inventory and implement corrective actions.
• Partner with Finance and Operations to improve working capital performance.
Cross-Functional Leadership
• Collaborate with Supply Chain, Operations, Engineering, Quality, Program Management, and Commercial teams.
• Drive consistency of materials management processes across all Libra locations.
• Support strategic initiatives focused on supply chain performance, customer delivery, and operational excellence.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives utilizing Lean and problem-solving methodologies.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, Engineering, or related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
• Minimum 8 years of progressive experience in materials management, purchasing, procurement, planning, or supply chain leadership within a manufacturing environment.
