Membership & Engagement Strategist
Reports to: President & CEO
Salary Range: $70,000-$95,000 annually
The National Aviation Hall of Fame (NAHF) exists to honor America’s aerospace pioneers and inspire future
generations. As the nation’s only Congressionally chartered aviation hall of fame, we celebrate the legends
of flight while advancing Aviation and STEM education and preserving innovation in aviation history. Our
team is growing and we’re seeking a creative, strategic professional to reimagine how supporters engage
with and champion our mission.
The Membership & Engagement Strategist will lead a full re-envisioning of NAHF’s membership program, crafting a compelling vision for growth, designing engaging member experiences, and building strategies that inspire a broad and diverse aviation community to join and support our mission.
The ideal candidate is equal parts creative thinker, strategic planner, organized project manager, and enthusiastic storyteller
. You’ll have the freedom to innovate, test ideas, and build a modern membership journey from the ground up, backed by a respected national organization and a mission that changes lives. This role is perfect for someone passionate about aviation, aerospace, and STEM education
, and excited by the chance to work alongside and support the nation’s most accomplished aviators, astronauts, and innovators.
This role is based in Dayton, Ohio, where our small and collaborative team works primarily on-site in our museum with the flexibility for 1–2 remote workdays per week, depending on workflow. Occasional travel will be required.
Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic Leadership & Vision
- Reimagine NAHF’s entire membership program, including value propositions, audience engagement pathways, and long-term growth strategies.
- Develop a data-informed membership roadmap that inspires a wide audience, from aviation enthusiasts to industry leaders, to join and contribute.
Membership Growth & Stewardship
- Design and oversee campaigns to attract, cultivate, steward, and retain members.
- Manage membership data systems, build dashboards, and ensure accurate tracking of engagement and metrics.
- Create memorable experiences and communications that make supporters feel seen, valued, and connected to the mission.
Marketing & Communications
- Collaborate on compelling messaging, digital content, marketing materials, and storytelling that elevate NAHF’s mission and highlight the impact of our inductees and programs.
- Partner with the team to integrate membership strategy into overall communications calendars and initiatives.
Events & Engagement
- Contribute to the planning and execution of NAHF events, including our annual Enshrinement Ceremony and support programmatic outreach.
- Develop member-focused events, virtual experiences, and engagement strategies that strengthen loyalty and participation.
- Work independently with initiative and creativity, while also fostering collaboration across a growing and high-performing team.
- Support a culture of innovation, curiosity, accountability, and excitement about NAHF’s expanding national presence.
- Experience in membership management, marketing, communications, or community engagement.
- Strong project management and organizational skills with an ability to juggle multiple initiatives.
- Creative mindset with a strategic orientation—someone who can envision the future and also build the systems to get there.
- Comfortable working with data, CRM systems, and metrics to guide decisions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a talent for storytelling.
- Passion for aviation, aerospace, history, or STEM education (or eagerness to develop this passion).
- Demonstrated ability to work independently while contributing positively to a collaborative team environment.
