Job Description & How to Apply Below

A large, multi-location private wealth management practice is seeking an accomplished Director of Advisor Development to provide leadership, coaching, training, and accountability for select Financial Advisors and Associate Financial Advisors. Reporting to the Managing Partner, this leader will strengthen advisor skills and results in delivering an exceptional client experience, implementing comprehensive advice, and communicating effectively with clients and prospects. The right candidate will combine strong people leadership with meaningful financial-services experience.

An insurance background is strongly preferred. Deep knowledge of every internal process is not required on day one; the successful leader will learn the practice's approach and use proven coaching, training, and performance-management skills to develop confident, capable advisors. This is a full-time, exempt position.

What You Will Do
  • Provide overall leadership for advisor development and drive progress against strategic measures related to comprehensive advice, financial-plan conversion, net flows, and brand standards
  • Conduct weekly or biweekly one-on-one coaching sessions with advisors and facilitate group coaching or mentor sessions when appropriate
  • Build and deliver a dedicated educational curriculum for newly appointed Associate Financial Advisors, including structured onboarding, skill development, and readiness milestones
  • Lead and participate in regular structured accountability sessions that translate priorities into measurable execution
  • Use SMART goals, performance data, and direct observation to identify execution gaps and help advisors create practical action plans that produce consistent results
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve a comprehensive advisor development and training program, drawing on proven internal and industry resources
  • Integrate advisor training with the practice's Financial Planning Analyst development program to create a coordinated career-development pathway
  • Coach advisors on client conversations, discovery, comprehensive planning, insurance and protection strategies, advice implementation, prospect communication, and relationship management
  • Influence advisors to develop and communicate a distinctive, advice-based value proposition, including the evolution from product-focused positioning to advice-centered value and pricing
  • Promote adoption and mastery of the practice's core client-meeting, service-menu, financial planning, and workflow tools, including Money Guide and related platforms
  • Coordinate licensing, credentialing, required education, and servicing-readiness activities in partnership with practice leadership and compliance resources
  • Provide senior leadership with quarterly progress reports comparing advisor performance with annual goals and action-plan milestones
  • Identify and coordinate internal, corporate, mentor, and consultant resources needed to support advisor success
  • Travel to practice locations and team-development events as needed
Qualifications
  • Seven or more years of progressive financial-services experience, including advisor, sales, practice management, field-leadership, training, or development responsibilities
  • A minimum of five years of demonstrated people leadership, coaching, or advisor-development experience
  • Meaningful insurance experience and the ability to coach advisors on the role of protection strategies within a financial plan
  • Track record of developing early-career professionals and creating accountability without sacrificing trust or engagement
  • Strong facilitation, feedback, communication, and performance-management skills
  • Working knowledge of advisor licensing, credentialing, and financial-services regulatory expectations
  • Relevant securities and insurance licenses are valuable; leadership capability and development expertise are more important than holding every technical credential at the time of hire
  • Demonstrated results influencing advisors and cross-functional teams, leading complex development programs across locations, and using data to evaluate and improve outcomes
  • Ability and willingness to travel as business needs require

The practice offers a comprehensive total-rewards package designed to support employees' health, financial well-being, and long-term professional growth. Benefits for eligible full-time employees include:

  • Medical coverage with PPO and high-deductible health plan options, including an HSA option; the practice pays the full cost of employee-only medical, dental, and vision…
