Overview
At Norwood Medical, we build components for surgical tools and instruments used in life-saving medical procedures around the world. We’re looking for a skilled Tool Maker / CNC Machinist to support our precision coining process for critical medical device components. This is a hands-on role where craftsmanship, quality, and accountability matter every day.
What You’ll Do- Set up and run surface grinders for coin punches and precision components
- Hold tight tolerances that meet Norwood Medical quality standards
- Set up vertical CNC mills, i.e. Brothers/Robodrill, including tool changes, touch-offs, and setups
- Understand and support the honing process and precision die work used in coining operations, including maintaining surface finish, geometry, and tool integrity for repeatable results
- Perform your own in-process and final inspections; you own your quality
- Polish parts and tooling to meet cosmetic and functional requirements
- Read prints, make adjustments, and troubleshoot to keep parts in spec
- Work with Engineering, Quality, and Operations to continuously improve our processes
- Follow Norwood’s Lean and 5S standards to keep a clean, organized workspace
- 3+ years experience as a Tool Maker or Precision Machinist
- Strong experience with surface grinders (required)
- Proven ability to hold tight tolerances consistently
- Experience with Brothers CNC mills or similar CNC machines
- Ability to read prints and understand GD&T
- Proficient use of mics, indicators, gauges, and comparators
- Experience with light polishing of precision parts and tooling
- Takes pride in craftsmanship, quality, and doing it right the first time
