Tool and Die Technician Dayton, OH - $25+/hr

A well-established company in Dayton, OH is looking for a Tool and Die technician for a temp-to-hire position.

Position Details:

Candidates needed for a Tool and Die Technician position in Dayton, OH. This is a 1st shift position with the hours of 6am-4:30pm with a pay rate of $25+/hr based on experience.

Position overview:

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintains, sharpens, assembles tools and dies for Brehm shear, single hit, and progressive dies.
  • Verify dimensions, alignments and clearances of finished parts for conformance to specifications using measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, gauge blocks, and dial indicators.
  • Set all safety devices and provide a thorough check of each safety device before turning the machine over to production.
  • Informing each press operator on their particular die/dies, instruct them on safe operation.
  • Study blueprints, sketches, or specifications to plan sequences of operations for tools, dies or assemblies.
  • Inspect dies for smoothness, finish, contour conformity, and defects.
  • Set up and operate conventional machine tools such as drill press, lathes, milling machines, and grinders to cut, bore, grind, to described dimensions and finishes.
  • Conduct test runs with completed tooling or dies to ensure that production parts will meet specifications.
  • Collaborate with engineers and other team members to develop new tooling designs or improve existing ones
  • Fit and assemble parts to make repairs or modify dies.
  • Trouble-shoots and Repairs tooling and setups as needed.
  • Follow work procedures to meet production schedules.
  • Examines work for quality and first part approval.
  • Properly maintains and stores dies and tooling.
  • Follows safe work procedures.
  • Operates crane.
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Knowledge and Abilities

  • Experience utilizing a press fit, slip fit and tolerance. Ability to use lathes, milling machine, grinders, drill machine, gauge blocks, dial indicators, calipers and micrometers.
  • Experience working with a broad range of materials including tool steel, Teflon, aluminum, etc.
  • Ability to use lathes, milling machine, grinders, drill machine, gauge blocks, dial indicators, calipers and micrometers. As well as an understanding of the impacts of heat treat prior to grinding.
  • Ability to apply basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
