Position: Maintenance Technician 3 (SugarCreek)

Overview

Description summary:
Lead and perform routine maintenance and repairs to keep machines and mechanical equipment operating efficiently and in a safe manner. Perform mentoring and training of maintenance team. Coordinate with Plant Management to establish maintenance schedules on various machines to minimize downtime on production.

Responsibilities
  • Lead troubleshooting and corrective maintenance as the first level of escalation for lower-level technicians. Include inspecting, operating, or testing machinery or equipment to diagnose electrical and mechanical malfunctions.
  • Dismantle and rebuild machinery, equipment and/or field devices to access and remove defective parts, using hoists, cranes, hand tools or power tools.
  • Perform routine preventative and predictive maintenance, such as inspecting drives, motors, or belts, checking fluid levels, replacing filters or performing other preventive maintenance tasks.
  • Lead the Preventive Maintenance (PdM) program, including performing repairs, verifying lower technician findings and repairs, and tracking pre- and post-repair performance changes to provide trend reports for site leadership.
  • Utilize prints, repair manuals, wiring diagrams, and/or parts catalogs as necessary.
  • Repair machines, equipment, or structures using tools such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, wrenches, precision measuring instruments, or electronic testing devices.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot relay logic and control field devices, including contractors, starters, limit switches, proximity sensors, photo eyes, VFDs, HMIs, interlock safety devices, and related components.
  • Mentor junior technicians and peers by providing positive motivation and guidance to achieve departmental goals and by performing safety trainings.
  • Review and complete work orders in a timely manner and perform necessary maintenance or repairs as needed.
  • Follow Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures at all times and ensure all Maintenance Personnel are following LOTO procedures.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with all departments and sustain constant communication with Plant Management regarding any maintenance issues that may arise.
  • Complete daily reports outlining maintenance or repairs conducted over the course of the shift.
  • Participate in continued education and training in related multi-craft skills.
  • Participate in root cause analysis events for local site.
  • Comply with federal, state, and company policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Support safety, food quality and sanitation initiatives and policies.
  • Follow Sugar Creek safety rules and procedures.
  • Perform other duties and tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Education:

    High School Diploma or equivalent (GED); vocational training or associate degree with an electro-mechanical focus preferred.
  • Experience:

    3+ years in maintenance with automated equipment preferred; 3+ years in maintenance with electrical and electronic responsibilities preferred; 3+ years in a food manufacturing setting preferred.
  • Certification or Licensure:
    None.
  • Abilities, Knowledge, and

    Skills:

    Knowledge of machines, diagnostic tools, and hand tools; ability to use and interpret their designs and repair requirements; ability to communicate complex information effectively; ability to lead troubleshooting for mechanical, controls, and electrical issues; basic computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office); strict adherence to safety procedures; problem-solving and logical reasoning; ability to act as a subject matter expert on up to three site-level assets or industrial standard skills;

    ability to lead site improvement projects and perform IQ/OQ; operate industrial-size equipment safely; good hand dexterity; ability to work well in a team.
  • Other:
    No unusual physical requirements; travel between plants may be required; work environment primarily in manufacturing facility with safety gear required (hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, steel-toe boots, etc.).
