CNC Machinist
- Goals and Objectives

As a CNC Machine Operator, you will be responsible for driving machining targets and supporting the CNC Supervisor on the day-to-day operations of the CNC lathes. Your focus will be on ensuring that internal production demands are met efficiently while upholding 100% quality assurance.

- Duties and Responsibilities
  • Production & Operation:
    Effectively and efficiently operate CNC lathes to meet or beat production demands. Once fully trained, you will be expected to run multiple machines simultaneously.

  • Quality & Blueprints:
    Follow precise work instructions and machining blueprint specifications to maintain world-class quality. Effectively maintain Layered Process Audits.

  • Process & Tool Monitoring:
    Maintain production workflow by closely observing equipment and control points. Monitor tool life, make machine adjustments, and change tool inserts as needed.

  • Documentation:
    Keep accurate company documentation, including productivity logs, downtime, and scrap reports.

  • Shop Upkeep & Preventative Maintenance:
    Perform routine machine P.M. duties (cleaning equipment, refilling machine oils/coolants, and emptying machine waste). Partner with the supervisor on 5S duties, inventory stock-taking, and replenishing machining materials.

  • Safety & Compliance:
    Ensure 100% compliance with all Health and Safety legislation and OSHA regulations by wearing proper PPE (safety glasses, earplugs, gloves, and steel-toed shoes).

  • Flexibility:
    Maintain a safe and clean work environment, stay flexible in your daily tasks, and participate in cross-training opportunities.

CNC Machinist
- Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skills
  • Experience:

    Must have 1 to 3 years of professional machining experience.

  • Technical

    Skills:

    Ability to use precision measuring equipment such as Digital Calipers, Height Gages, and Fixture Gages. Basic math skills are required.

  • Vision:
    Excellent vision or corrective eyewear is required to observe fine detail and quality control points.

- Physical Demands & Work Environment
  • Strength:
    Ability to lift between 20 to 50+ pounds consecutively throughout the shift.

  • Mobility:
    Ability to stand, sit, and walk throughout the day, as well as twist repeatedly at the torso while lifting and pulling inventory from shelves.

  • Environment:
    Comfortable working in a high-volume production environment with regular exposure to machine vibrations and high decibel sound levels (hearing protection provided).
