Picture your first-shift morning in a Dayton-area precision shop: you grab the print, choose tooling, set your work offsets, and bring a tough Inconel job to life. You prove the first article, make smart edits at the control, and run tight-tolerance parts while checking features with mics, indicators, and calipers. You’re not waiting for someone else’s setup—you’re the person who takes it from blueprint to finished piece.
About the role Melben is hiring directly for a permanent CNC professional to support a precision machine shop in the Dayton, Ohio area. This is a direct-hire position on the employer’s payroll from day one (not a temp placement). Target start is early September.
What you’ll handle
Set up and run CNC mills and lathes for close-tolerance work on high-temperature alloys
Interpret blueprints, work instructions, and inspection requirements to plan your approach
Perform complete setups, tool changes, and offsets; prove out first articles
Edit and troubleshoot programs right at the machine control
Inspect in-process parts using micrometers, indicators, calipers, and other precision metrology
Confidently machine difficult materials such as Inconel What you bring5+ years of CNC machining experience preferred
Proficiency on both milling and turning equipment
Ability to own the setup from start to finish—not just run an existing program
Background working with tough alloys (Inconel experience is a strong plus)
Blueprint literacy and a track record of holding tight tolerances
Independent problem-solver who collaborates well with the team Compensation, schedule, and location
Direct hire, permanent position
Pay: $17–$35 per hour, commensurate with your skills and experience
Shift: 1st shift
On-site in the Dayton, OH area
