Overview
Under general supervision, the Nurse (RN or LPN) is responsible for delivering high-quality medical care and clinical support for residents participating in Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) and Medications for Opioid Use Disorder (MOUD) services. This role requires specialized knowledge, judgment, and clinical skill grounded in the principles of psychological, biological, physical, and social sciences. The Nurse plays a key role in resident assessment, medication administration, care coordination, and ongoing monitoring to ensure safe, effective, and person-centered treatment.
The Nurse – MAT/MOUD collaborates closely with prescribers, behavioral health staff, pharmacy partners, and community providers to support each resident’s recovery, stabilization, and successful reentry.
- Specific Duties
- Coordinates all aspects of Mon Day CCI’s Medication-Assisted Treatment/Medication for Opioid Use Disorder (MAT/MOUD) program in partnership with the contracted physician and clinical team.
- Conducts nursing assessments to determine appropriateness for MAT/MOUD initiation or continuation based on established medical criteria and agency protocols.
- Prepares, administers, and documents MAT/MOUD medications, including injectable and oral formulations, in accordance with medical orders and manufacturer guidelines.
- Monitors residents for therapeutic response, side effects, adverse reactions, and signs of misuse or diversion, and reports concerns promptly to the provider.
- Educates residents on MAT/MOUD medication purpose, expectations, risks, benefits, and the role of medication within a comprehensive treatment plan.
- Maintains secure storage, handling, and chain-of-custody procedures for all controlled substances in alignment with DEA and agency requirements.
- Collaborates with clinical staff to integrate MAT/MOUD participation into individualized treatment plans and case management goals.
- Tracks dosing schedules, follow-up appointments, lab testing, and required clinical checks to ensure continuity of care.
- Assists in preparing program data, reports, and audits required by the Bureau of Community Sanctions, state partners, and internal leadership.
- Supports diversion-control efforts, including monitoring for suspicious behaviors, documenting incidents, and following agency procedures for reporting and intervention.
- Participates in ongoing training in support of MAT/MOUD services.
- Assesses residents for health problems and/or serious injuries as required or requested relevant to MAT/MOUD participation.
- Administration and documentation of urinalysis relevant to MAT/MOUD participation.
- Takes and interprets vital signs.
- Contacts physicians, medical institutions, and specific individuals to obtain information necessary to ensure adequate health care for residents.
- Receives and carries out Physician's orders.
- Schedules medical appointment related to MAT/MOUD resident needs.
- Ensures all documents for all MAT/MOUD medical treatment rendered are completed.
- Update medical files.
- Orders approved medication and supplies as required.
