Job Overview
The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) serves as an expert clinician who utilizes the Synergy Professional Practice Model, specialized knowledge, skill, research, and competency acquired through advanced professional training to promote optimum care of patients and families within the neonatal/pediatric population. The APP acts as a consultant to patients/families, nursing staff, other employees, physicians, and the community in the area of neonatal/pediatric health.
The APP inter-relates with all departments in the hospital as a voice for advanced practice where clinical expertise is required and collaborates with nursing leaders in developing annual goals that align with the hospital mission statement.

Position DetailsFull time, 40 hours per week. The role is supervised by the Orthopedic Surgeons and operates within the Orthopedics department for pediatric clients aged 0–21 years.
Responsibilities- Perform health status assessments of pediatric patients (0‑21 years) through interviews, health history, physical examinations, and diagnostic tests.
- Collaborate with physicians to evaluate test findings, provide initial medical diagnoses, deliver patient/family education, and initiate actions to implement therapeutic plans.
- Provide inpatient and outpatient care services for orthopedics: admissions, rounds, progress notes, orders, and discharge.
- Engage in staff development, research, and consultation activities.
- Serve as a consultant to patients/families, nursing staff, institution, and community regarding pediatric orthopedic needs, and collaborate across departments to advance clinical expertise.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, Master’s Degree – Nurse Practitioner Program, or Physician Assistant.
- RN license in the State of Ohio or Physician Assistant credential.
- Must apply for and be granted privileges by the CEO as a condition of continued employment at Dayton Children’s Hospital.
- 5 years of pediatric experience preferred but not required.
- For Nurse Practitioner candidates participating in operative/surgical care, RNFA (Registered Nurse First Assistant) certification required within 18 months of hire (employer‑sponsored support may be provided).
