Position: Registered Nurse

Department: Regional Referral Center

Facility: Cox Media Building

Shift: Part-time Nights 7:00pm-7:30am / 48 Hours Per Pay

Overview

This role merges the responsibilities of the System Access Center Coordinator with those of the System Patient Logistics Nurse Coordinator. The registered nurse will be cross‑trained to oversee and support all functions within the Regional Referral Center (RRC) Access Call Center, focusing on the clinical assessment and identification of needs for complex transfers. The RN will serve as the initial point of contact for internal and external customers, providing leadership and guidance to Access Center coordinators and collaborating with referring and accepting physicians to plan for these transfers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide guidance, leadership, and clinical expertise to the System Access Center Coordinator (ASCC), including coordination of all calls for Premier Health such as paging requests, consults, direct admits, and transfers.
  • Maintain the on‑call schedule for providers and manage incremental changes in the approved schedule database.
  • Oversee the process for all critical alerts across the system (Stroke, AMI, hip fracture, and sepsis), ensuring timely notification to all caregivers.
  • Coordinate the movement of patients throughout the Premier Health system and manage outside transfers, gathering medical information to determine appropriate levels of care.
  • Utilize Central Logic and EPIC bed boards to facilitate rapid bed placement, monitor placement, and work with physicians, nursing leadership, and EVS to expedite discharge.
  • Collaborate with regional access and transportation teams to evaluate capacity needs and ensure a seamless transfer process.
  • Drive emergent and non-emergent referrals to Premier Health facilities and evaluate capacity needs in partnership with regional teams.
  • Act as a liaison between referring and accepting physicians, providing clinical knowledge and driving the admission process.
Education
  • Minimum level:
    Associate degree in nursing from an accredited school.
  • Preferred: BSN, BSN completion, or professional certification.
Licensure / Certification / Registration
  • Valid State of Ohio RN license.
Experience
  • Minimum 3–5 years of job‑related experience.
  • Preferred clinical experience in ED, Critical Care, or Advanced Care; customer service experience preferred.
