RN Nurse, General Nursing, Healthcare Nursing
LPN Profession:
Nursing Specialty:
Medical Surgical
This position involves caring for patients in a unit consisting of 20-21 beds. Patients tend to require less acute care, which supports a higher patient ratio. The setting resembles a nursing home environment. There is no telemetry monitoring, blood product administration, or BiPAP use unless for long-term care. The patient ratio is targeted at 1:7. Travelers may function under a team nursing model where RNs, LPNs, and PCTs collaborate to care for a specific group of patients.
The goal of this model is to improve both workload management and patient care. Travelers may float to other units as needed based on staffing requirements. Floating may include care assignments in high-risk respiratory settings or other units within the healthcare system. Travelers must be available to work every other weekend and holiday. Candidates should be comfortable floating to different units based on their skill set.
The patient population consists of long-length stay patients who are waiting for placement or other arrangements. These patients do not meet criteria for inpatient admission or observation. They require custodial care and cannot be discharged from the emergency department due to safety concerns. The work environment entails a focus on teamwork and collaboration among healthcare professionals. A successful candidate must demonstrate the ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced setting.
Candidates must complete required compliance assessments shortly after signing.
