The School Nurse is a full-time, on-site role based within Dayton Public School District in the Dayton Metropolitan Area. This position provides direct student health services, including assessment, first aid, chronic disease management, medication administration, and emergency response during the school day. The School Nurse collaborates with educators, families, and community providers to support student wellness, health education, and accommodations for health-related needs.
Daily responsibilities include maintaining health records, monitoring immunization compliance, implementing individualized health plans, and promoting a safe and healthy school environment. The role also involves participating in multidisciplinary teams, assisting with health screenings, and contributing to district-wide health policies and procedures.
- Candidates should possess strong Nursing and School Nursing skills, including assessment, care planning, and clinical decision-making in a school setting.
- Candidates should possess knowledge in School Health and Pediatrics to address age-appropriate health needs and promote student wellness.
- Candidates should possess a solid foundation in Medicine relevant to primary care, preventive health, and management of common childhood conditions.
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Ohio;
School Nurse or related certification preferred. - Experience in school, pediatric, or community health settings is highly beneficial.
- Ability to communicate clearly with students, families, and staff, and to work collaboratively in a diverse, urban school community.
- Strong organizational skills for documentation, health record management, and compliance with state and district health regulations.
