This position involves working in a high-acuity patient care environment. The unit specializes in the care of patients with pulmonary conditions. Patient populations primarily consist of COPD, CHF, pneumonia, flu, sepsis, diabetic keto acidosis, and post-COVID care. Nurses will be involved in managing patients on ventilators, bipaps, and high-oxygen therapy. Charting will be performed using the EPIC system. The targeted nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4, but can go up to 1:5-6.
The care team will function in a collaborative model, which may include team nursing. Traveling staff may be required to float between units as needed. Candidates must have experience with telemetry, drips, and ventilators. Nurses will provide care in a setting that emphasizes teamwork and communication. Daily duties will include assessment, implementation of care plans, and patient education. This position requires adherence to safety and infection control protocols.
Travelers must be willing to work every other weekend and holiday. This role involves managing various medical protocols, including insulin and heparin drips.
