American Traveler is hiring a night-shift RN for a PCU/Oncology unit requiring oncology or stepdown/PCU experience and an active OH or compact RN license.
Details- Work on a 35-bed medical and radiation oncology unit specializing in oncology and hematology patients
- Mixed acuity unit caring for both Med Surg and Advanced Care patients
- Unit handles blood products, chemotherapy, drips, PCAs, wounds, and other complex care needs
- Targeted patient ratios of 1:4, with potential up to 1:5-6
- Night shift schedule, 4x12 hours from 19:00-7:30
- Scheduled hours of 36 or 48 per week with no block scheduling
- 13 or 18 week winter contract options available
- Required to float to all Stepdown/Advanced Care units, with priority given to travelers for floating
- May float to other Premier Health campuses within 10-15 miles of Main Campus
- Required to work every other weekend and every other holiday
- Uses Epic EMR system
- Active OH or compact RN license required
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Must be able to read and interpret EKG/dysrhythmia strips
- OCN certification preferred
- Minimum 1.5 years of RN experience required
- Stepdown/PCU experience required in work history; ICU experience does not qualify
- Oncology experience required
- Sickle cell experience and chemo certification preferred but not required
- Level 1 or Level 2 trauma center experience preferred
- Teaching hospital experience preferred
- Epic EMR experience required
- Skilled in IV therapy/infusions and starting and maintaining IVs
- Must pass online EKG telemetry competency assessment prior to starting assignment
- N95 mask fitting required prior to working on HRRU unit unless PAPR is provided
- RNs with ONS certification may administer chemotherapy on this unit
- Navy blue scrubs required
- May float and support nursing care teams in high-risk respiratory/COVID units at facility discretion
- Local candidates within 50 miles are not accepted for this position
- Candidates with any past license disciplinary action will not be considered
- Previous PERM/PRN staff or prior agency travelers not extended due to tenure must wait 6 months before reapplying and require facility rehire approval
- Maximum of 14 days RTO allowed per contract, must be requested at time of submission with no changes after offer
- Lab work and EKG/Dysrhythmia exam must be completed within 72 hours of signing contract
