The Lead RN is responsible for the assessment, coordination, implementation and evaluation of the delivery of safe and effective patient-centered care during their assigned shift. They will continuously assess unit needs to ensure adequate resources for current and upcoming shifts by collaborating with other department, clinical and nonclinical, to coordinate timely admissions, transfers, and discharges of patients.
The lead nurse will always demonstrate professionalism, meet regulatory and policy requirements, engage standards of practice, and hold team members accountable for safe, competency practice, quality care, and continual improvement. Lead Nurse reports to Clinical Nurse Manager or ANM.

Minimum of 2-year clinical nursing experience
CPR required ACLS, PALS, NRP TNCC per unit requirement (If required and not current must be obtained within 6 months of employment) Certification in Specialty preferred within 24 months (Remove?), demonstrated leadership and coaching abilities, demonstrated professional and ethical behavior, must be passionate about nursing and teamwork.
Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or related healthcare field. Previous experience in a charge, lead, or supervisory nursing role. Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification, Critical Care, Registered Nurse (CCRN), or other specialty certification preferred.
Essential Functions PlanningRN identifies the procedures, processes, and patient care to be accomplished during the work period, as well as the resources that will be required to safely carry out the work of the unit.
- Uphold the KH Standards of Behavior in all interactions
- Awareness of legal aspects of nursing and applies knowledge when making staff assignments.
- Prepares unit assignment with focus on patient acuity and competencies of scheduled staff while attempting continuity in patient assignments.
- Completes verbal and written report for oncoming shift by gathering information from off going nurses to identify patient care issues.
- Prepares for and is familiar with the downtime process, forms and location of resources and ensures implementation of processes.
- Ensures quality control checks on equipment and crash carts as well as environmental rounds to ensure safety.
- Promotes an environment that focuses on staff well-being and patient safety.
- Maintains open, clear and consistent communication to staff promoting positivity before, during and after shift.
- Maintains familiarity and access to necessary documentation, ordering, supplies, scheduling, bed management systems.
