The Quality Control Technician ensures that complex electro-mechanical assemblies, precision microchips for medical applications, and custom machined components meet stringent quality standards. This role focuses on collecting and analyzing quality data, inspecting parts using precision instruments, and supporting the continuous improvement of quality procedures within a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities
  • Receive product quality review (PQR) information from customers and collect all required documentation, data, and traceability for jobs and products.
  • Perform accurate data entry and repair activities using Excel and other software tools to maintain complete and organized quality records.
  • Take detailed photos, document issues, and investigate non-conformances to determine root causes and support corrective actions.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), to understand specifications and inspection requirements for various parts.
  • Use a range of quality inspection instruments and tools, including calipers, micrometers, gauge blocks, height gauges, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM), to verify product dimensions and quality.
  • Apply manufacturing experience to assist in the development and refinement of new quality procedures and processes.
  • Collaborate with team members and other departments using clear interpersonal communication to resolve quality issues and improve processes.
  • Support the preparation of quality-related documentation such as PQR, PPAP, and APQP records as needed.
  • Contribute to ongoing quality system improvements aligned with recognized standards and best practices.
Essential Skills
  • Proficiency in print reading and strong knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Hands-on experience using basic inspection hand tools such as calipers, micrometers, gauge blocks, height gauges, and other precision measurement instruments.
  • Background in manufacturing processes and an understanding of how parts are produced and inspected.
  • Computer literacy with the ability to perform data entry and analysis using Excel and other software.
  • Ability to investigate and document non-conformances with clear, organized records and photographs.
  • Interpersonal communication skills to work effectively with team members and other departments.
  • Experience working with or around coordinate measuring machines (CMM) in a quality inspection context.
  • Familiarity with structured quality documentation practices, including PQR, PPAP, and APQP.
Additional

Skills & Qualifications
  • Professional quality certification such as ASQ credentials or equivalent is preferred.
  • Advanced GD&T knowledge, such as GD&T Technologist-level expertise or equivalent, is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of the practical application of statistical methods, including Statistical Process Control (SPC), control plans, and related quality tools.
  • Experience using formal problem-solving methods such as 8D and 5-Why to address and prevent quality issues.
  • Hands-on CMM operation experience is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with quality management systems and standards such as ISO 9001 and AS9100 is preferred.
  • Ability to contribute to the development and improvement of quality procedures and processes within a manufacturing environment.

Work

Environment

The role is based in a clean room, climate-controlled manufacturing environment with a close-knit team of approximately four people. The dress code allows for closed-toe shoes, jeans, and T-shirts, offering a comfortable yet safety-conscious setting. The position follows a first-shift schedule from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday, with optional overtime available. Work is performed using precision inspection tools and computer-based applications in a well-organized, quality-focused facility.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.
