Job Description

Seasonal Environmental Intern – Fall 2026. This posting is hiring for three positions within the division. Ohio EPA wants you to serve in this role within our Division of Surface Water.

Responsibilities
  • Collect and summarize wastewater data for PTI applications, assisting technical staff with evaluation of treatment system capacity, design and environmental impact.
  • Review PTI applications and detailed plans for completeness, accuracy and alignment with state environmental rules and standards.
  • Compile and organize key data for wastewater discharge permits to support the regulatory process that protects water quality across the state.
  • Prepare reports and tabulate technical information to turn raw data into clear summaries used by technical staff and decision makers.
  • Assist with field inspections at wastewater treatment plants, observe operations and help document a facility’s permit compliance.
Qualifications
  • Must be currently enrolled in a college degree program directly related to the position or have recently graduated within the quarter/semester immediately preceding the start date.
  • Major area of study:
    Environmental Science, Water Resources, Chemistry or Engineering (Environmental, Civil, Chemical) or relevant field of study.
  • Knowledge of safety practices, public relations, agency policies and procedures and permits as applicable.
  • Skilled in computers (word processing and database work).
