    - 12:00 a.m.
  • 11:30 a.m.

    - 8:30 a.m.
  • Weekends are required
  • Must possess an Active Drivers License

Pay: $17.20 / hr.

Here at Dayton Job Corps Center, we support their mission by teaching eligible young people, the skills they need to become employable and independent, and place them in meaningful jobs or further education. Students here have access to room and board while they learn skills in specific training areas for up to three years.

The program helps them to complete their high school education, trains them for meaningful careers, provides transitional support services, and assists them with obtaining employment. Job Corps graduates either enter the workforce or an apprenticeship, go on to higher education, or join the military.

Purpose

Reports to the Center Culture Director. Ensures the security and safety of students and staff, buildings, vehicles, and property by checking persons, center grounds, doors, windows, lighting, appliances, equipment, locks, and emergency equipment. Performs dispatch, guard, and administrative duties to assist in the protection of life and property against theft, misappropriation, fire, flood, or similar disaster.

Your Responsibilities
  • Tests fire and intrusion alarms; reports malfunctions.
  • Conducts search and seizures in dormitory.
  • Confiscates contraband, weapons, etc., and delivers confiscated items to the Safety/Security Manager for proper disposal.
  • Assists center staff and law officers in controlling disturbances; investigates and prepares reports as needed.
  • Transports students on a scheduled or emergency basis.
  • Assists in transporting ill and/or injured students, staff, or others requiring medical attention.
  • Investigates accidents and prepares accident reports.
  • Maintains student accountability.
  • Informs staff and students of unsafe practices and conditions.
  • Provides security gate/desk coverage; ensures that proper check‑out and check‑in procedures are followed.
  • Performs enforcement duties in accordance with federal law, state statutes, and center rules and regulations in order to maintain the peace and safety of students and staff.
  • Patrols buildings and grounds to ensure the safety and physical security of buildings and property by checking doors, windows, lights, electrical appliances, equipment, locks, and emergency equipment.
  • Maintains a log of findings and corrective actions taken.
  • Checks identification of personnel seeking entrance to or exit from grounds and permits or denies entrance or exit according to established policies and procedures.
  • Responds to fire alarms, takes necessary steps to report fires, assists in suppressing fires, and resets alarm equipment.
  • Sets up and checks operation of intrusion alarm systems in buildings as required.
  • Assists staff and law enforcement personnel in controlling disturbances; takes initial reports and conducts preliminary investigation of crimes.
  • Models, mentors, and monitors the positive normative culture of the center.
  • Acts as a responsible custodian for assigned center property.
  • Reports violations of ethical behavior.
  • Suggests opportunities for continuous operational improvement and reduction of waste.
  • Identifies and reports environmental health and safety concerns.
Requirements
  • Education:

    High school diploma or equivalent and two years of related experience. Associate’s degree in criminal justice is desirable and may be substituted for experience.
  • Experience:

    One year of experience in firefighting, law enforcement, or safety and security desired. Previous experience working with youth preferred.
