Overview

Merchants Security Service is a local company that offers a caring personal feel. We have been serving in and around Dayton since 1901. We provide uniformed security officers to the Dayton and surrounding community. We offer full- or part-time positions and are flexible depending on your needs. We pride ourselves in working with our veterans and encourage applications from active service members or recent retirees.

Experience in security is helpful, but we also offer training for first-time applicants.

• Protect and/or watch over company assets and spaces.
• Watch security cameras to detect suspicious activity within the environment.
• Set alarms to provide alerts in case of disturbance or emergency.
• Sound alarms or place necessary calls to the appropriate authorities (police or fire service) in case of any emergency.
• Secure spaces and ensure the safety of those within the company environment.
• Control and supervise the entrance of both individuals and vehicles in the office area.
• Monitor the exit of all employees to prevent theft of company properties.
• Provide assistance to employees and customers in a friendly and polite manner.
• Carry out investigations and prepare reports on incidents or suspicious activity.

• 21 years of age.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean record (no more than four points).
• Your own transportation (not public).
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Clean background check — no felonies; misdemeanors depend on charge; no theft, robberies, or burglary charges.
• Must pass a drug test.
• Must be able to walk for one hour twice during an eight-hour shift.
• Must be able to stand 25% of the time during an eight-hour shift (about 2 hours).
• Must have your own phone (with service, not Wi-Fi reliant) for communications; an app is used to receive schedules and clock in/out of shifts.
• Ability to communicate effectively at all times.
• Attention to detail and good interpersonal skills.
• Good teamwork and, if needed, leadership ability.
• Customer-friendly demeanor and strong analytical and decision-making skills.
• Ability to operate radio or telephone equipment and perform basic computer operations.
• Familiarity with basic computer operations.
