Public Safety – Main Campus – 3rd Shift.
Schedule:
Full time, 40 hours per week. The Armed Public Safety Officer provides the highest level of safety and security for the hospital during normal day‑to‑day operations and emergency situations. The officer enforces hospital security rules, regulations, and policies in a professional, respectful, and low‑key manner aligned with the hospital’s mission and values.
- Work collaboratively with all hospital departments to maintain a safe environment for patients, visitors, employees, and physicians.
- Support hospital‑wide safety, infection prevention, emergency response initiatives, and patient transport responsibilities when needed.
- Operate hospital vehicles safely when required and maintain a valid Ohio driver’s license.
- Assist in emergency response and crisis management as part of the public safety team.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum age 21 years.
- Valid Ohio driver’s license (no SR-22). Must be insurable under the hospital’s insurance carrier and be able to operate hospital vehicles when required.
- Successful completion of OPOTA (Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy) or OPOTA Private Security Academy certification within 12 months of hire. OPOTA certification preferred at time of hire.
- Previous law enforcement, military, corrections, hospital security, or armed security experience preferred.
- Experience working in healthcare or behavioral health environments preferred.
- Must be able to lift and move heavy objects as required.
- Must carry a department‑issued firearm and successfully qualify with required department standards.
- Strong communication, problem‑solving, and conflict‑resolution skills.
- Ability to work effectively in high‑stress and fast‑paced environments.
- Ability to interact professionally with patients, families, visitors, and staff.
Shift: 11:00 PM – 7:30 AM, rotating weekends and holidays.
