We are seeking dedicated individuals committed to maintaining a safe, secure, and positive environment for students, staff, and visitors. This role is essential to protecting center property, preventing incidents, responding to emergencies, and supporting a culture of safety and accountability.
This position is well-suited for individuals with experience in:
- Security, safety, or law enforcement
- Firefighting, emergency response, or crisis management
- Youth programs or residential environments
- Dispatch, patrol, or monitoring roles
- Community safety, compliance, or risk prevention
You will work closely with the Center Culture Director, Safety/Security Manager, dormitory staff, counselors, and law enforcement as needed to ensure the well-being of everyone on center.
This is an on-site, student-facing role requiring strong communication, sound judgment, and the ability to remain calm and professional in a variety of situations.
Your work directly influences safety, crisis prevention, operational integrity, and the overall student experience.
What You'll DoSecurity Patrol, Prevention & Property Protection
- Patrol buildings and grounds to ensure the physical security of all facilities and property.
- Check doors, windows, lighting, equipment, locks, and emergency systems for safety and functionality.
- Test fire and intrusion alarms and report malfunctions.
- Set up, monitor, and reset intrusion alarm systems as required.
- Maintain logs of findings and corrective actions.
Student Safety, Conduct & Accountability
- Conduct search and seizure activities in dormitories when needed.
- Confiscate contraband and deliver items to the Safety/Security Manager for proper handling.
- Maintain student accountability and ensure compliance with center rules and regulations.
- Inform students and staff of unsafe practices and conditions.
- Support the center's positive normative culture through consistent modeling and mentoring.
Incident Response & Emergency Support
- Respond to fire alarms, assist with fire suppression, and ensure proper reporting and reset procedures.
- Assist center staff and law enforcement in controlling disturbances or emergencies.
- Conduct preliminary investigations of incidents, accidents, or policy violations.
- Transport students for scheduled or emergency purposes.
- Assist in transporting ill or injured students, staff, or visitors requiring medical attention.
- Prepare accurate reports and documentation following incidents.
Administrative, Monitoring & Access Control
- Provide security gate or desk coverage and enforce center check-in/check-out procedures.
- Check identification of individuals entering or leaving the center and grant or deny access based on policy.
- Act as a responsible custodian of assigned center property.
- Report violations of ethical behavior and identify opportunities for continuous operational improvement.
- Identify and report environmental health and safety concerns.
• High school diploma or equivalent; two years of related experience preferred.
• Associate degree in criminal justice may substitute for required experience.
• One year of experience in firefighting, law enforcement, or safety/security preferred.
• Previous experience working with youth strongly preferred.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to promote positive behavior, model expectations, and intervene professionally when needed.
• Valid driver's license in the state of employment with an acceptable driving record.
• I-9 documentation verifying authorization to work in the United States.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test and background check.
• Adequate vehicle insurance coverage.
