Substation Technicians are responsible for the installation, maintenance, testing, and repair of electrical substations and related equipment. This family of positions includes entry‑level roles for those beginning their careers, as well as journeyman‑level roles for experienced professionals.

• Assist with or perform installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of substation equipment including transformers, breakers, switches, and control systems.
• Conduct testing and diagnostics on electrical systems and components.
• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and company procedures.
• Participate in scheduled and emergency maintenance activities.
• Travel throughout the Midwest region to support various project sites.
• Collaborate with team members and supervisors to complete projects efficiently and safely.

Entry‑Level Candidates:

• High school diploma or GED.
• Technical training or coursework in electrical systems (preferred).
• Willingness to learn and travel.
• Strong work ethic and attention to safety.

Journeyman‑Level Candidates:

• Minimum 4 years of experience in substation construction or maintenance.
• Proficiency in electrical testing, troubleshooting, and equipment installation.
• Familiarity with OSHA regulations and electrical safety practices.
• Ability to lead crews and mentor junior technicians.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel regionally.
