General Job Description
Position SummaryThis role requires technical expertise in troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems in residential environments — including both new builds and lived-in homes. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of NEC codes, prioritizes safety, and excels in customer service. As the face of our service division, this technician will represent KEP Electric with professionalism and a commitment to excellence.
Key Responsibilities- Respond to scheduled and emergency service calls in residential homes (occupied and unoccupied).
- Diagnose and repair electrical issues related to panels, circuits, breakers, lighting, outlets, GFCIs, switches, and more.
- Conduct home warranty repairs and ensure homeowner satisfaction through quality service and clear communication.
- Maintain a professional and respectful demeanor while working in lived-in homes.
- Accurately complete service tickets and document repairs performed, parts used, and next steps if required.
- Ensure work is completed in accordance with National Electrical Code (NEC) and OSHA safety standards.
- Maintain cleanliness and functionality of company vehicles, tools, and PPE.
- Communicate effectively with service coordinators, homeowners, and field leadership.
- Proactively identify opportunities to improve system performance or customer satisfaction.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Residential Service Electrician.
- Demonstrated skill in electrical troubleshooting and diagnostics in residential settings.
- Strong knowledge of NEC codes and compliance requirements.
- Recognized for high-quality workmanship, professionalism, and safety.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Pass background check and drug screening.
- Willingness to work independently and travel to various residential job sites.
- Minimum education:
None. - Minimum years of experience: 2‑4.
- Journeyman Electrician license (as required by state or local jurisdiction).
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
- Occupied and unoccupied residential homes, including new construction and remodels.
- Frequent work in attics, crawl spaces, garages, and outdoor environments.
- Exposure to varying weather conditions, dust, noise, and electrical hazards.
- Daily travel to customer locations throughout the service area.
- Occasional overtime, weekend, or emergency service work may be required.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, and climb throughout the workday.
- Ability to work from ladders and in confined spaces.
- Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, and electrical testing equipment.
- Ability to distinguish wire colors and perform detailed electrical work.
- Ability to work in varying temperatures and conditions while maintaining safety standards.
