Job OverviewThe Auto Body Technician’s primary responsibility is to provide an exceptional customer experience through meticulous assessment and quality repair of each vehicle to restore it to pre‑accident condition. The technician disassembles, repairs, and reassembles vehicles, ensuring adherence to KPIs and representing The Boyd Group as a brand ambassador.
Key Responsibilities- Ensure consistent execution of the WOW (Wow Operating Way) plan.
- Plan repair work and prepare cost estimates for customers using tools such as cutting guns, plasma cutters, hydraulic jacks, hammers, and pliers.
- Repair minor body damage by hammers, dent filling, and other methods.
- Realign car chassis and frames to repair structural damage.
- Remove damaged sections and replace them with new or aftermarket parts, including glass and windshields.
- Replace or repair interior parts as needed.
- Weld, attach, and fit parts; prepare and repaint vehicles with factory‑specified paint or agreed‑upon equivalents.
- Attempt to complete work orders within labor time guidelines, inspecting vehicles after repair to verify quality.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Successful completion of a technical school program OR a 3‑year apprenticeship as an auto body repairer.
- Read job orders and work with minimal supervision.
- Collaborate effectively with other repairers in an auto body shop.
- Understand methods and procedures for vehicle body repair.
- Know how to use the tools required for the trade.
- Work safely in a noisy environment with strong odors.
- Lift up to 30 pounds occasionally.
- Visually inspect vehicle damage under varying weather conditions.
- Bend, stretch, kneel, and squat for repairs and inspections.
