Job Overview

Electrician – Residential Service Electrician (2‑4 years experience) – Dayton, Ohio (US‑OH‑Dayton)

Position Summary

This role requires technical expertise in troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems in residential environments, including both new builds and lived‑in homes. The technician will represent KEP Electric professionally and commit to safety and excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Respond to scheduled and emergency service calls in residential homes (occupied and unoccupied).
  • Diagnose and repair electrical issues related to panels, circuits, breakers, lighting, outlets, GFCIs, switches, and more.
  • Conduct home warranty repairs and ensure homeowner satisfaction through quality service and clear communication.
  • Maintain a professional and respectful demeanor while working in lived‑in homes.
  • Accurately complete service tickets and document repairs performed, parts used, and next steps if required.
  • Ensure work is completed in accordance with National Electrical Code (NEC) and OSHA safety standards.
  • Maintain cleanliness and functionality of company vehicles, tools, and PPE.
  • Communicate effectively with service coordinators, homeowners, and field leadership.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to improve system performance or customer satisfaction.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

2–4 years

Qualifications
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Residential Service Electrician.
  • Demonstrated skill in electrical troubleshooting and diagnostics in residential settings.
  • Strong knowledge of NEC codes and compliance requirements.
  • Recognized for high‑quality workmanship, professionalism, and safety.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record.
  • Must pass a background check and drug screening.
  • Willingness to work independently and travel to various residential job sites.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Journeyman Electrician License (as required by state or local jurisdiction).
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
Work Environment
  • Work performed in occupied and unoccupied residential homes, including new construction and remodels.
  • Frequent work in attics, crawl spaces, garages, and outdoor environments.
  • Exposure to varying weather conditions, dust, noise, and electrical hazards.
  • Daily travel to customer locations throughout the service area.
  • Occasional overtime, weekend, or emergency service work may be required.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, and climb throughout the workday.
  • Ability to work from ladders and in confined spaces.
  • Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, and electrical testing equipment.
  • Ability to distinguish wire colors and perform detailed electrical work.
  • Ability to work in varying temperatures and conditions while maintaining safety standards.
