This is not an entry level position; applicants must demonstrate that they possess the necessary skills and abilities to assume the full duties and responsibilities of the position without substantial training, upon entry. Perform all duties particular to and normally required in the plumbing trade at the journeyman level, following recognized procedures and techniques necessary to the servicing of gas, water, steam, and sanitary and storm lines;
and the installation and repair of plumbing fixtures and equipment. General care, repair, and operation of boilers as necessary to meet and or exceed license or insurance requirements.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Experience sufficient to qualify as Journeyman plumber with a minimum of four years actual work in the trade.
- Practical experience in each of the following areas: boiler repair, plumbing, & preventative maintenance.
- Individual must have a valid drivers license and be insurable by the University, which includes maintaining a low risk driving record.
- Ability to read, write, and comprehend English, and make simple math calculations.
- Ability to read and understand working drawings.
- General knowledge of plumbing, heating, and general repair.
- Understanding and familiarity with the uniform building code.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions, both oral and written.
- Ability to read and check gauges and measuring devices.
- Ability to obtain boiler operator certification within 18 months by Industrial Commission, State of Ohio.
- Current Boiler Operator Certification
- Experience troubleshooting boilers
- Experience in preventative maintenance of boilers and supporting equipment
- Industrial/commercial boiler/piping experience
