Construction Carpenter

Job Description

Directs activities of workers concerned with construction of carpentry trade or other construction tasks by performing the following duties.

• Studies specifications to plan procedures for construction based on start and completion times and staffing requirements.
• Orders procurement of tools and materials to be delivered at specified times to conform to work schedules.
• Confers with and directs personnel and subcontractors engaged in planning and executing work procedures, interpreting specifications, and coordinating various phases of planning to prevent delays.
• Confers with supervisory personnel and subcontractors to resolve problems within the workforce.
• Confers with supervisory and engineering personnel, inspectors, and suppliers of tools and materials to resolve construction problems and improve construction methods detailed to carpentry trade.
• Inspects work in progress to ensure workmanship conforms to specifications and adherence to crew schedule.
• Directs workers concerned with major maintenance for existing installations detailed to carpentry trade.
• Responsible for directing installation of doors, frames and hardware.
• Responsible for production quality of millwork, trim metal studs, drywall and acoustic ceilings.
• Inspects and conducts on-site repairs or maintenance.
• Manages small special projects.
